Richa Thapa: Tourism Queen pick from Nepal

| Richa Thapa Magar is going to represent Nepal in the Miss Tourism Queen International 2009 to be held in Zhengzhou City in Henan province of China from Aug. 7-30, Nepal Tourism Board revealed at a press meet on Friday. Miss Tourism Queen International is an annual China-based international beauty contest which started in 2004. It is considered among the top five beauty contests in the world. Richa, 23, has completed her Bachelors in Business Administration and has recently joined Unilever Nepal Ltd. Richa has previously bagged the title of "outstanding student" in VOW Top 10 College Women Competition 2007. She also took home 'Miss Culture' and 'Miss Personality' titles at Miss Teen Nepal. The Group of Event Entertainers has selected her on the basis of her excellent qualifications and experience. "As Miss Tourism Nepal beauty pageant could not be organised due to protests and other disruptions, the organisers were compelled to select participants without a contest," said Richa. Nepal is yet to win a major international beauty contest. Richa attributes this to "lack of sponsors" and the short stature of average Nepali girls. "But I am confident. I may not be able to bag the title but I will definitely make a lot of people know about my country and its specialties." |
