Canyoning starts with a splash in GandakiSunday - 25th July 2010 |
| DAMAULi: In a bid to attract more tourists to the country ahead of Nepal Tourism Year 2011, canyoning, one of the outdoor adventurous and entertaining sports, has started for the first time in Gandaki zone in Kopse forest at Bandipur-6, Tanahun. Canyoning involves abseiling, climbing, jumping, swimming and sliding down steep canyon walls and waterfalls to deep pools below, through intimate passages of contorted rock and powerful blasts of water. Inaugurating canyoning on Thursday, chairman of Bimalnagar Siddha Cave Development Committee and Nepal Tourism Board member Lal Kumar Shrestha said such a game offers much entertainment. Police Inspector Birendra Thapa of Area Police Office, Aabukhaireni, said canyoning will help promote tourism in the western region. Fifteen people, including security personnel, locals and journalists, took part in canyoning on the inauguration day. |
