KMB Race II on November 20

Kathmandu Mountain Bikes Company, a biking division of HimEX Nepal, is organising Kathmandu Mountain Bike(KMB) Race II on November 20, 2004 to promote adventure tourism in Nepal. This event is designed as an adventure race centered around Panauti, Lakhure Bhanjyang, Sisneri and Godavari which offers the best trails and world class landscape to host the activities planned. Around 100 participants from Nepal and abroad are expected to take part in this event classified in juniors, senior, open and women.

"This race aims at promoting adventure sports tourism in Nepal and will definitely make a name in the arena of international mountain biking," says Bikrum Pandey, President HimEX Nepal.

It offers the best biking trails, Himalayan views and rich cultural surroundings that Nepal can offer. The start line of the Race will be Panauti, a small Newari town in the district of Kavre, 32 kms South East of Kathmandu city. The race passes through Lakhure Bhanjyang, Sisneri before climbing up Kot Dhara. The race ends at Godavari situated at the foothills of Phulchowki approximately 15 km south east of Kathmandu.

"The race course is one of the best trails in world having off road, dirt track, jeep track, single track. I do believe that the race will make this trail popular in the world," remarks international biker and last year's winner Suresh Dulal.

Last year, Kathmandu Mountain Bike Race was held from Panauti to Lakhure Bhanjyang on November 22, 2003, and was participated in by 72 bikers.

This sports event is being organized by Himalaya Expeditions and promoted by Nepal Tourism Board.
