The third Nepal Himalayan Festival, is being organized on June 5-6, in Manchester UK. Organized by the Nepalese Association in the UK, and hosted by Manchester City Council at the town hall, the festival will feature talks, food, arts and artifacts.
The festival has attracted an impressive line-up of civic and celebrity support, including entertainer and hill-walking enthusiast Mike Harding. Some other attractions of the festival include information for trekkers, climbers, backpackers, gap-year students and eco-tourists.
The event to be inaugurated by the Royal Nepalese Ambassador to United Kingdom will also feature a lecture on mountaineering by Doug Scott, the first Briton to reach the summit of Everest.
Other subjects include ecology, botany, textiles, Buddhism, volunteering opportunities, children' rights, and Nepalese art.
Manchester news online quotes Radio presenter Mike Harding, who has appeared at previous festivals, saying "If you go to Nepal with an open heart and an open mind, you will find the spirit of the country and the people reaching into you."
