Air Nepal launches int’l flight service

Air Nepal International (ANI), a private Nepali airline, launched its first international flight service in the Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur sector on Sunday.
Carrying 190 passengers, a 245-seater ANI Boeing 767 left for Kuala Lumpur at 9:55 a.m. The ANI is the third Nepali airline company to operate international flight services. With ANI launching its services, the total number of airlines in Nepal has become 16.
Last month, the company had signed an agreement with PB Company of Thailand for a Boeing 767 on ‘wet lease’ basis.
The company will be operating in three sectors in the initial phase: Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu-Doha-Dubai and Kathmandu-Bangkok, ANI officials said. Two flights will be conducted a week in Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur and Kathmandu-Bangkok sectors each and three flights a week in Kathmandu-Doha-Dubai sector.
An estimated 900,000 people travel to and from Nepal a year while the number is increasing thanks mainly to rising number of Nepalis going for foreign employment. nepalnews.com mbk July 24 05 |
