Langtang Festival in November

Monday - 05th September 2005

In a bid to explore and highlight new touristic areas, cultural and natural heritage and services of the Langtang area in Rasuwa district, a weeklong Langtang festival is going to be organised in the Langtang Valley from November 12-18, 2005.
The festival aims to promote the Langtang area as a safe tourist destination. Another objective of the festival is to forge partnership among various stakeholders associated to the promotion of tourism. Situated close to Kathmandu, the area has a lot of prospects for promoting soft trekking, religious and cultural tourism.
The Langtang region is considered the third important trekking area after the Annapurna Circuit and the Khumbu Region. The mountain peaks, Langtang National Park, various religious sites such as Gosainkunda, Tatopani (Hot Spring), historic places Rasuwagadhi, among others, are some of the tourist attractions in the district. Besides, the scenic places and the traditional Tamang culture are additional attractions for tourists.
As part of promoting the festival, a team of the festival organising committee held discussions with Mr. Deepak Mahat, President of Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN) at the TAAN Secretariat on September 2, 2005.
Mr. Mahat assured the team of necessary support and cooperation for holding the festival.
The various local stakeholders, including Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Programme (TRPAP), the District Development Committee, Village Development Committees (VDCs), and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and other organisations will extend support and cooperation to making the festival a success.
The team included Renjen Dorje Tamang, vice-chairman of the organising committee, Mr. Nawaraj Neupane, Mr. Ram Chandra Sedhai, Village Tourism Advisor to TRPAP in Rasuwa district and Mr. Basudev Lamichhane.
