NTB bags Best Group Participation Award at TTF Kolkata

Nepal Tourism Board won Best Group Participation Award in the 43rd
Travel and Tourism Fair TTF, Kolkata which concluded at the Netaji
Indoor Stadium on the September 5, 2005 amidst thronging crowds. Nepal
Tourism Board as a part of its marketing effort participated in TTF,
Kolkata in association with Royal Nepalese Consulate at Kolkata, and
other 3 private participants, Cosmic Air, Nepal Recreation Center and
Nebuti Travels. Overall TTF Kolkata had over 200 participants with
official participation from Nepal.

The fair was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister Mr.Dinesh Dakua- West
Bengal Tourism and Hon’ble Minister Subhash Chakraborty- Sports on
September 3, 2005 whereas the concluding function was presided over by
Hon’ble Minister Jugal Kishore, Ministry of State for Tourism, Jammu and
Kashmir.

TTF Kolkata saw a significant increase in international participation,
with 10 countries being represented, as compared to 7 last year. The new
additions this year were Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Britain with
Singapore and Malaysia making a strong come back.

Kolkata has always been one of the most important tourism markets for
Nepalese tourism in India. It is also emerging as a regional hub for its
connection with the South East and Far East Asian Destination.
Participation in this fair will definitely help to entice a significant
chunk of tourist to Nepal in a near future.

Nepal stall received an overwhelming response from the visitors and the
visitors have made plans to go to Nepal for the Puja vacations. The
major queries that were entertained during the fair was the safety and
security situation of Nepal.

Nepal has been able to showcase its products among the visitors and also
been able to create awareness on the different tourism products to the
Indian Travelers. Cosmic Air and Indian Airlines fly to Kolkata from
Kathmandu.
