The Manang Culture Museum was inaugurated by Mr. Kapli Gurung, the Chairman of Village Development Committee of Manang on September 19, 2005 amidst a grand function in Manang Village. Built by Tourism Entrepreneurs Association of Manang(TEAM) with the help of Manang Youth Society under the financial support of The News Zealand Agency for International Development(NZAID) through New Zealand based Empower Consultants Limited, the museum is a typical home having display of the lifestyles of Lower and Upper Manang.
The inauguration programme was attended by Mr. Jean Pierre De Margerie, Deputy Country Director, United Nations World Food Programme, Mr. Keith Lesley, Country Director, Save the Children - US, Mr. Robert Henry Nanes, Country Director, International Development Enterprises, Mr. Bill Berger, OFDA Regional Advisor, USAID, Mr. Steven Charles LeClerq, Field Director, Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Paul Handley, Humanitarian Affairs Officer, UNO, Ms. Ann McLean, Social Development specialist, Empower Consultants Limited, Mr. Tony Woods, Renewable Energy Specialist, Empower Consultants Limited, Mr. Simon Morton, Radio Journalist, Radio New Zealand, Mr. Charles Haviland, Correspondent, BBC World Service, Mr. Hikmat Singh Ayer, Manager, Nepal Tourism Board, Mr. Sarad Pradhan, Media Consultant, Nepal Tourism Board, Mr. Triple P Gurung, President, Manang Youth Society, and other journalists from Kathmandu.
During the function, certificates were also distributed to the participants of Small Lodge and Hotel Management Training organized by Manang Youth Society under the support of Nepal Tourism Board for which technical support was provided by Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management. Participated by 21 enthusiastic persons, the training was conducted from September 10-19, 2005 |
