First visiting tourists honoured

According to its annual programme Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN) welcomed the ten tourists who arrived in Nepal by flight at first at Tribhuvan Internation Airport to mark the World Tourism Day. In the programme ten tourists arriving from Lahsa were welcomed garlands and flowers.
Five tourists who first arrived in the ancient city of Bhaktapur this morning for sightseeing were heartily welcomed and honoured amidst a function to mark the World Tourism Day 2005.
The welcome ceremony was jointly organised by the Bhaktapur Tourism Development Committee, Bhaktapur Municipality, District Development Committee and the Madhyapur Thimi Municipality.
The foreign tourists who visited Bhaktapur for sightseeing include Ukari Kohara, Keiko Nisikawa and Bharjinish Jose Fernando Reirero.
During the welcome ceremony, the first visiting tourists were welcomed with garlands and Bhaktapur caps as well as gifts.
The Bhaktapur Municipality allowed them to enter the city for free of charge while arranging a one-day accommodation and fooding for them for free of charge, according to the chairman of the Tourism World Committee.
On the occasion, the foreign tourists were entertained with cultural programmes in the Durbar Square.
A total of 87,000 tourists are reported to have visited the city in the fiscal year 2061/062.
The figure includes 68, 467 non-SAARC tourists, 138 tourists from SAARC region and China.
Deeply impressed by the beauty of the Bhakatpur City, Spanish tourist Fernando Rereiro, who visited the place for the fourth time, made remark that Bhaktapur looks more beautiful than ever before each time he visited the city. |
