International food festival in Pokhara successfully concluded

The First International Annapurna Food Festival concluded in Pokhara on 17 October which was inaugurated by six ambassadors of different countries on 14 October, according to report filed by Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
The Festival was organised on the silver jubilee occasion of the Regional Hotel Association, Pokhara and included a total of 14 food stalls serving Japanese, Indian, Nepali (Newari and Thakali), Tibetan, Bangladeshi, Korean, Thai, Chinese, Italian and Pakistani delicacies.Also on the occasion, various cultural tournaments including Dohari Geet, archery and Chhelo competition were organised.
British Ambassador to Nepal Keith George Bloomfield, Bangladeshi Ambassador M. Humayun Kabir, German Ambassador Franz Ring, South Korean Ambassador Park Sang Hoon, Malaysian Ambassador Mahinder Singh and Charge dEAffairs of Russian Federation Valentin Soldatenkov jointly inaugurated the Festival.

The Festival was organised with the objective of attracting more domestic and international tourist by sending the message of the national and international level that Pokhara is a peaceful and aesthetic place to visit.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, British Ambassador Bloomfield expressed the view that the food festival will help promote tourism sector of Pokhara. ritish ambassador, Keith G Bloomfield said the British Embassy in its travel advisories had regularly been encouraging the British tourists to visit Nepal.He said there has been significant inflow of foreign tourists in Nepal after the three-month long Maoist ceasefire.
German Ambassador Ring said that Nepal is a safe destination for the tourists and the German tourists could visit each and every part of the country without any fear whatsoever.
South Korean Ambassador Hoon stated that Nepal, with its natural beauty, could attract tourists of any country.
Malaysian Ambassador Singh pointed out that more than 9,000 Malaysian tourists come to Nepal every year to enjoy the natural beauty.
Bangladeshi Ambassador Kabir stated that more than 14,000 Bangladeshi people visit Nepal in order to give continuity to the centuries old cordial relation between the two countries.
Charge dEAffairs of Russian Federation Soldatenkov said that the cultural events like this festival would attract more and more foreign tourists to Pokhara.
Also speaking at the programme chaired by president of the Regional Hotel Association, Pokhara, Hari Prasad Gurung were second vice president of the Association Sonam Sangpo, general secretary Biplav Poudel and marketing director of Nepal Tourism Board Nandini Thapa.
On the occasion, British Ambassador Bloomfield presented shawls to honour Haridhowj Tulachan, Bishwo Shankar Palikhe, Kali Bahadur Adhikari and Sundar Prasad Shrestha for their significant contribution in tourism sector of Region.
Various cultural programmes were presented by different organisations during the programme.
