Himalayan Film Festival in Australia

The Himalayan Film Festival is being organized in Sydney, Australia on November 20, 2005. Organized by Australian Himalayan Foundation, the special guest of the Film Festival is Peter Hillary, two time Everest climber and son of Sir Edmund Hillary. Beyond Everest, 50 minutes film directed by Michael Dillon will be shown for the first time in Australia with an introduction from Peter Hillary and Mr. Dillon.
This film is about Sir Edmund's final extended visit to his beloved Sherpa communities whose welfare he has made his life's work. Another film that will be screened in the Film Festival is Daughters of Everest directed by Sapana Sakya and Ramayata Limbu. Unlike many films about climbing Everest, this expedition is made up entirely of women, and all are from Nepal. Other films to be shown are Silent Roar directed Mitchell Kelly on search for the snow leopard in Ladakh, India and Himalaya Shorts based on Bhutan.
