8th Paragliding Competition to be held in PokharaWednesday - 20th December 2006 |
| 20th December, 2006 Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN)'s Western Chapter is going to organize 8th open paragliding competition from February 8 to Feb 10 inorder to promote the tourism in Nepal. This Competition has been commencing since 1999 in order to promote the tourism worldwide. Nepal is the one of the best five paragliding destinations around the world and other four destinations are Australia, America, Brazil and France. In the year 1999, 20 pilots took part in the competition and around 100 pilots are expected to take part in this competition this year. Around 35,000 spectators are expected to take part in the program and to explore the local culture with some local songs and dances. Other objectives of the competition are to build up the interest of the paragliding in the youth and to promote Pokhara as the place for the paratrek. The main categories of this competition are Best Acrobatic, Best Spot landing and Best funshow and winner of each category will be awarded Rs. 5,000 and medal. |
