ADB to provide 32 mln USD for Nepal's education programsFriday - 29th December 2006 |
| The Asian Development Bank (ADB) agreed on Thursday to provide 2,124 million rupees (about 30 million U.S. dollars) loan assistance and 141.6 million repees (about 2 million U.S. dollars) grant assistance to Nepal for the Education Sector Program and the Capacity Development Project respectively. Paolo Spantigati, officer in-charge at the Nepal Resident Mission of ADB, and Madhav Prasad Ghimire, joint secretary of the Nepali Ministry of Finance, signed the two agreements on Thursday. Education Sector Program aims at setting up a more equitable, inclusive, effective and holistic school education. The Capacity Development Project is devoted to developing the capacity of Nepali Ministry of Education and Sports and other main stakeholders involved in school reform and restructuring in Nepal. |
