Nepal witnesses nationwide health strikeFriday - 29th December 2006 |
| Outpatient department of all the government and private hospitals of Nepal remained closed Wednesday as the doctors went on protest against increasing incident of manhandling of medical practitioners. As the talks between the doctors and the government officials failed to yield any result on Wednesday, the strike is set to continue on Thursday too, according to local The Kathmandu Post daily. Nepal Medical Association (NMA), the doctors' institution, Tuesday decided to cut all services nationwide except emergency for three days demanding the security of health workers and institutions after the relatives of a patient attacked doctors at a hospital of the capital for carelessness in treatment.
