CPN leader agrees to return police posts in Nepal
Saturday - 30th December 2006 |
Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said that the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) ( formerly known as guerrilla) had agreed to re-establish the police posts displaced during the decade-long insurgency, The Kathmandu Post reported Saturday.
Talking to the media Friday in his hometown Biratnagar, the prime minister said that CPN leader Prachanda, during a telephone conversation, assured him about the re-establishment of displaced police posts and VDC secretaries back to their postings.
The government and the CPN have recently signed a comprehensive peace accord (CPA) under which both parties agreed to reinstate the police posts and VDC secretaries back to their posting, but some CPN members at local level resisted the relocation of the police posts. |
