NATO hails interim constitutionMonday - 22nd January 2007 |
| KATHMANDU, Jan. 21: Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) Sunday welcomed the promulgation of the interim constitution and the interim legislature and said that the association is optimistic that this would assist the tourism industry to reap benefits under the changed context. According to a press release, NATO along with other tourism associations and entrepreneurs have strongly condemned the impromptu strikes and bandh, which are called every other day by various grieving parties. NATO is gravely concerned that these instances of unexpected demonstrations and strikes called for minor problems would no doubt have a deep-rooted negative impact on the Nepalese tourism industry, a press statement said. NATO has also appealed to the political parties, civil society and individuals to join hands with the tourism entrepreneurs and assist them in their efforts to promote Nepal as a safe tourist destination in the international area before it is too late. NATO believes that it is high time for all concerned parties to create a conducive environment for the industry to flourish and to understand that no such activities should be undertaken that will hamper the tourism industry and the nation's economy as a whole. |
