Snowfall affects public life in Langtang

DHUNCHE (Rasuwa), Feb. 19: Public life in Langtang, the main center of attraction for the tourists in Rasuwa has been severely affected due to heavy snowfall. As the snow is piled up more than one meter in Langtang, Kyangjen valley and in rural areas, people have been facing very difficult condition, Chairman of Conservation Buffer Zone Management Committee, Tenzing Pasang Tamang said.
More than 400 people have been troubled to get drinking water as almost all the rivers and ponds are covered with snow. Now, they are bound to quench thirst by melting the snow.
Moreover, people are unable to move due to the snow. It is said they are also worried on what to feed to the yaks and cattle. However, the people in other places of the district are returning to normal life. Although the electricity in the District Headquarter Dhunche is on condition, it is still disconnected in the northern areas including Syafrubeshi. The snow piled up in the areas at the altitude of some 2,000 metre is melting. |
