UN begins arms, armies registration in KathmanduWednesday - 21st February 2007 |
| The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) has started the registration of the Maoist arms and cadres at various levels in the party head office at Kathmandu from Wednesday morning. The team has started the registration process at the Maoist Liaison office in Budhdhanagar. According to CPN-M, the registration of the personal security personnel of the members of the party, including chairman Prachanda and the other members of the central committee has begun. Earlier, the UN team had completed the verification and registration of the arms and cadres at the seven cantonments and their sub-cantonments of the CPN-M all over the nation. The arms are already stored at the pre-designated containers. The team has stated that it would complete the registration process of all the arms and militants in the capital in two days. According to Maoist sources, some 45 PLA fighters have been assigned security detail for the Maoist leaders in the capital. |
