Five travel agencies felicitated

KATHMANDU, Mar. 25: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Pradeep Kumar Gyawali presented letters of felicitation to five travel agencies using most Abacus service amidst a programme organised here today.

Among the best travel agencies felicitated today include City Travels and Tours, Gandaki Tours and Travels, Liberal Tours and Travels, Muskan Tours and Travels and Osho World Travels.

Addressing the programme, Minister Gyawali said that the tourists arrival in past went down due to conflict situation in the country, however, the number of tourists arriving has considerably went up in recent days. He said that in order to continue the growth in the number of tourist arrival, all concerned sides should work towards satisfying them when they go back to their respective countries.

General Manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation Gautam Das Shrestha noted that the NAC's collaboration with Abacus has led to achievements in the tourism sector of the country.

Also speaking at the programme were Acting Director of Institutional Department, Abacus Representative James Khu and President of Abacus Nepal Dr. Kiran Chhetri.

Meanwhile, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Pradip Kumar Gyawali has said that the history and culture of Nepal should be highlighted in a research-oriented and fact-based manner.

Speaking at a seminar on 'Role of the University Grants Commission in Higher Education' and release of a history book organised here today, Minister Gyawali said as books would be useful for the tourism development of Nepal such publications should be continued.

Vice Chancellor of Lumbini University Prof. Tulasiram Baidhya said along with the religious importance of Lumbini the philosophy, cultural and historical significance should also be publicised across the globe.

Presenting a working paper on the theme of the seminar, Prof. Krishna Bahadur Thapa said even after 12 years of its establishment the personalities related with higher education too are not clear about the role that the Grants Commission should play.

At the programme, two other books 'Tourism and Development' and 'Tourism in Nepal' written by Uddav Puri were also released.
