Bike race to spur tourismTuesday - 10th April 2007 |
| Aimed at promoting Rasuwa as one of the most beautiful destinations in Nepal, the first Mountain Bike Race is being organis-ed in the Tamang Heritage Trail in Langtang Region of Rasuwa on April 29. The adventure sports ev-ent is being organised jointly by Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Progra-mme (TRPAP), Nepal Tour-ism Board (NTB), District Development Committee (DDC), Rasuwa, and an active adventure promoter, Himalaya Expeditions Inc. According to NTB, there has been no increase in tourist inflow in this area despite its scenic beauty primarily because of lack of exposure. The race aims to highlight the area and help develop it as a prominent destination on the tourist map of Nepal. The tourism board is counting on its easy access, close proximity to the capital and the surrounding majestic mountains dotted with villages which when highlighted would make it an interesting tourist spot. The race will start from Syabrubeshi and end at Goljung, passing through Chaurhattar, Godam, Gatlang and Thambuchet, covering a distance of approximately 28 kms. While for Nepali participants the fee is Rs 500, foreigners will have to pay $99, informed an NTB release. |
