Fewa festival kicks off on new yearTuesday - 10th April 2007 |
| The 4th Few Festival has kicked off from yesterday with the festival aimed at the increasing domestic and foreign tourists on the occasion of new year. The festival that will be observed by the side of the Fewa Lake is scheduled to run upto month of Baisakha 2. The fair is expected to provide boost to the growth of tourism here with wide publicity there. Over the past few years, there has been increase in tourist arrvials. Following peace processes after the Jan- Andolan-II, there has been upsurge in the number of tourists. The festival 'Save Fewa', was inaugurated by secretary for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Madhab Ghimere. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his satisfaction over the increase in number of tourists following peace process. He also pointed out the need to identify and promote adjoining areas of Pokhara as tourist destinations. Co-ordinator of the Pokhara Visit year -2007, Basu Tripathi expressed his hope that such fair is expected to help publicize tourism growth at national and international level. He urged media to disseminate information about the new Nepal in order to publicise tourism sector of Nepal both at national and international level. Various programs including entertainment oriented one were attractions of the festival. At the programme presided over by the Chairman of the Committee, Bachhuram Tiwari other speakers also stressed the need of widespread publicity for Nepalese tourism. |
