Worker Sherpa to scale Everest

Central member of the Small Hotel and Restaurant Workers Association Nima Dorje Sherpa is going scale Mt Everest to mark the International Worker's Day (May Day) on May 1st representing all the workers of the country.

During a press conference organised here today, it was stated that Sherpa is going to scale Mt. Everest to prove that the workers too are capable of climbing world's highest mountain.

Sherpa who will be scaling Mt Everest along with his team will be hoisting a total of 18 flags including the flag of Nepali national flag along with flags of International Labor Organisation (ILO) and Independent National Democratic Confederation of Nepalese Trade Union (INDCNTU) affiliated 13 workers associations.

Speaking on the occasion, 21-year-old Sherpa said, "I am going to summit the Mt. Everest in order to introduce all Nepali workers association in the international arena and to boost up the morale of the workers all over the world."

President of the Association Balaram Ranamagar informed the press conference that the total cost of entire expedition is estimated to be some 2 million rupees. He also called for assistance from all sectors for the success of the expedition.

Bam Dewan of the Confederation said that they would appeal the government to waive off the royalty required to pay the government for Everest expedition on behalf of all the workers.
